A Castalia teenager has presented his prize winnings from the Winneshiek County Fair to Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum.

Trygve Lien, the son of Kelly and Sandra Lien of Castalia, restored a 1920s tricycle which he found in an antique shop. Dayspring Questers and Oneota Questers, chapters of a national organization that honors preservation and restoration in international antiques. awarded Trygve prize money of $50 for his work.

The award came with the stipulation that Trygve donate it to an organization that is involved in preservation and history. Trygve has been a volunteer at Vesterheim for five years and felt the museum could use the donation to continue preserving history

The South Winneshiek football players, coaches, band, cheerleaders enjoy the support of the younger fans.  However, while attending these school sponsored events students need to follow these guidelines.

  1. Students are to remain quiet and show respect during the playing of the national anthem.
  1. Students should not be running when entering the stadium stands.

  1. Students are to respect and listen to the supervising staff and follow expectations.
  1. The “HILL” is not to be used for sliding, rolling, or playing on.  It may be sat on, but is not to be used for mini football games or catch.  This is to ensure student and adult safety.

As a South Winn Staff we want the football season to be an enjoyable time for all.  Through attendance at these events school spirit is developed.  Please visit with your child about proper behavior at sporting events.  Remind them that they are there to watch the game.
